Our Social Work at Conento

At Conento we do our bit to make the world a better place to live in and to that end we regularly support and participate in charitable and community activities, such as the following:

  • Acción contra el hambre: International humanitarian organization, neutral and independent. It fights malnutrition while ensuring access to drinking water and providing secure livelihoods for vulnerable groups. Its mission is to save lives and end hunger through prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition before, during and after emergencies. His vision, a world without malnutrition.
  • Cáritas: Non-governmental organization that plays an important role of support and promotion of social groups in situations of poverty and social exclusion. The commitment with these situations is supported by the free labor of more than 65,000 volunteers, representing 90 percent of the human resources of the organization in Spain. While focusing its activities on issues related to poverty and social inequality, Caritas has a wide international dimension through its 154 Caritas member organizations, integrated into Caritas International, based in Rome, with presence in 198 countries and territories.
  • Escolanía del Valle de los Caídos:: About fifty children from all over Spain, from 9 to14, receive at the Escolania a strong academic and musical education. Along with their normal primary and secondary school activities, they study musical language, one or two instruments, chamber music and, of course, choral chant.
  • Altius: Through projects devoted to education, health, and development, Altius daily contributes towards strengthening poor families and communities, benefiting over 500 000 people in 13 countries. Altius seeks to transform the lives of young people through education in order to form integral and successful persons.
  • Iglesia Católica:It helps millions of needy people in the world and has thousands of nursing homes, homes for children, schools, hospitals, etc.
  • Aldeas Infantiles SOS: : SOS Children's Villages is the world's largest charity dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children. It aims to provide children entrusted to them a family environment, a stable home and a solid training to give them a bright and secure future. They adopt a family model of a universal nature, whose content is defined by the social and cultural characteristics of each country. Its mission is to fully integrate the children entrusted to them into the larger community, effectively and positively, fostering their autonomy and emancipation in equal rights and obligations as other youth, helping them to become active members of their community.
  • Solidaridad, Educación y Desarrollo SED: (Solidarity, Education and Development): Its main objective is to foster active solidarity with the disadvantaged, whether people in the South, especially Africa and Latin America, or within our own cities. It also develops educational projects in the North, to help understand injustices and thus encourage groups to fight them. In the South it helps to promote the emergence of leaders capable of leading the necessary changes of the structures of society. This NGOs is devoted to underdeveloped countries, contributing with human resources, as well as with technical and economic resources, to help transform the situations that hinder self-management.
  • Anesvad: Anesvad Foundation runs development cooperation projects in the three poorest continents on the planet - Africa, Latin America and Asia - and is actually working in 18 developing countries: Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Philippines, India, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. We work in 3 main fields: Neglected Tropical Diseases, Primary Health Care (Community Health, Mother-Child Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health) and Trafficking.
  • Buena Voluntad en Aacción (BVA): Its a fourth world socially compromised NGO. Tries to erradicate poorness, margination and social exclussion encouraging solidarity spirit and willingness to work for the most needed. BVA its a humanitarian organization which works for the less favored in order to overcome poverty and misery through social assistence programms. The main objective is to create better relations within the society to build a modern, much more humane, solidarian and fair society.
  • Fundación Proyecto Dorado: It's a nonprofit organization created to help, assit and give moral support to those with cancer illness and their families. Through its project ATICA (Comprehensive Cancer Care) they provide information, guidance and therapies aimed to improve their health and quality of life.
  • ASDI Sant Cugat The Association for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped of Sant Cugat del Vallès (ASDI Sant Cugat) is a nonprofit organization, declared of Public Utility in 2002, whose main objective is to improve life quality of people with mental and physical disabilities and their families, working every day to achieve greater equality of rights and opportunities.
